Apple Pay Support by Bank of China

Bank of China has integrated Apple Pay into its services, allowing customers to link their BOC cards to Apple Pay for seamless transactions. This integration enables users to make contactless payments at participating merchants using their iPhone, Apple Watch, or other compatible Apple devices.

Regional Availability

The availability of Apple Pay services varies by region. For instance, Bank of China (Hong Kong) supports Apple Pay, allowing customers to add their BOC cards to Apple Pay and make payments at merchants that accept contactless payments. Similarly, Bank of China (Macau) has resumed the Apple Pay binding function as of June 24, 2024, enabling customers to bind their bank cards to Apple Pay through the BOC Macau App using dual-factor authentication.

Supported Devices and Cards

Customers can add their BOC cards to Apple Pay on compatible devices, including iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch. It's important to note that not all BOC card products may be eligible for Apple Pay. For example, certain card types such as BOC Business Cards and BOC Wealth Express may not support Apple Pay services. Customers should verify the eligibility of their specific card product with their local BOC branch.

Setting Up Apple Pay

To set up Apple Pay with a BOC card, customers can follow these general steps:

  1. Open the Wallet app on your compatible Apple device.
  2. Tap the "+" sign to add a new card.
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to enter your card details.
  4. Complete any additional verification steps as required by your bank.

Once added, you can use Apple Pay to make secure payments at participating merchants by holding your device near the contactless reader and authenticating with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode.

Security Features

Apple Pay utilizes advanced security features to protect your payment information. When you use Apple Pay, your actual credit or debit card numbers are not stored on your device or on Apple servers. Instead, a unique Device Account Number is assigned, encrypted, and securely stored in the Secure Element on your device. Each transaction is authorized with a one-time unique dynamic security code, ensuring that your payment information remains secure.
